Week 2: Building More Ramps

Last week children explored ramps made from flat pieces of cardboard or wood; this week, they’ll add ramps made from tubes. Children will also experiment with the surfaces of ramps—grassy hills, sidewalks, textured rugs, smooth tiles. They’ll also take a more in-depth look at what happens when they encounter obstacles that get in the way of objects sliding or rolling.

Day 1

Day 1

Today children begin exploring the different surfaces and textures of ramps and how that affects the way things roll or slide.

Day 2

Day 2

Today children continue to explore how the texture of a surface affects the way an object moves.

Day 3

Day 3

Today children focus on building ramps that make objects roll fast and far.

Day 4

Day 4

Today children begin exploring what happens when a ball rolls down a ramp and hits an obstacle.

Day 5

Day 5

Today children try a variety of experiments with obstacles.
