Bedtime is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to listen for nighttime sounds together. Lie in bed and invite your child to be as quiet as possible. When one of you hears a sound, make a signal like touching your ear. Then both of you can try to identify the sound. This game has the additional advantage of making nighttime noises, which can sometimes be mysterious or scary, more familiar.
