Observing Animal Movements

Find an animal to watch with your child.

Observe the way it moves and notice how its body is suited to that particular kind of movement: look for snakes slithering; frogs, toads, and bunnies hopping; squirrels and cats climbing; birds and insects flying; and insects walking.

How many different kinds of movement can you see?

For an extension activity invite your child to move like the different kinds of animals you observed.
