Directions
Before you read: Show children the cover of the book and read the title and the author’s name aloud. Ask them to describe the cover and point out the different shadows they see. What is making these shadows?
While you read: Whenever you read the line, “Guess whose shadow?,” pause and have children guess what made the shadow. Why do they think that is?
After you read: Turn back through the pages and ask children to describe the shadows they see. (Are they long or short, behind or in front of the object or person, etc.?)
