Sharing Snacks

Sharing food is a wonderful way to introduce children to the concept of counting. At your next snack time, discuss ways that you and your child could divide up the food. How many pieces should each of you get? How can you make sure that you both get the same? (Introduce your child to the idea of passing the snack out one piece at a time until the snack is gone. Remember to count out loud together.) What if you add a favorite teddy bear or doll to the group? Will everyone still get the same amount of snack?
