Review today’s explorations and ideas about shadows.

Have children compare their experience using a lamp to make shadows to making shadows outdoors. Ask,

  • How did you make shadows last week?
  • How are making shadows indoors and outdoors the same? How are they different?

Next, display the photos you took during the Indoor Shadow Shapes activity. Have a few volunteers identify two or three photos of shadows made by the same object. Ask,

  • How do you think the same object could make so many different shadows?
  • How can you change the way an object’s shadow looks?

Add any new observations or ideas about indoor shadows to the “How a Shadow Changes” chart.
