Building More Ramps

Children will experiment with ramps made from tubes and explore ramps with different surfaces—grassy hills, sidewalks, textured rugs, smooth tiles. They’ll also look at what happens when they encounter obstacles that get in the way of objects sliding or rolling.

Time: 20-30 Minutes
Ramps With Different Surfaces (Outdoors)
Compare how an object moves on two different slanted surfaces.
Time: 20-30 Minutes
Rolling on Different Surfaces (Indoors)
Explore how different floor surfaces affect how far a ball travels after leaving a ramp.
Time: 20-30 Minutes
Build Trackways
Explore sending small balls down long trackways made of tubes and flat ramps.
Time: 20-30 Minutes
Obstacle Course I
Explore what happens when a ball rolls down a ramp and hits an obstacle. 
Time: 20-30 Minutes
Obstacle Course II
Try experiments with ramps, balls, and obstacles.
