Key Science Concepts

A shadow is created by an object blocking the light.
Outside, a shadow’s shape, size, and position change over the course of the day as the position of the sun changes.

Directions

Before watching: Explain to children that you are going to watch a PEEP episode in which Peep and his friends explain to a groundhog what a shadow is.

After watching: Ask,

At the beginning, why couldn’t the groundhog see her shadow outside?
How do Peep and his friends help the groundhog see her shadow in the can?
When the groundhog discovered her shadow, she had lots of fun experimenting and playing games with her shadow. Did it remind you of any games you’ve played with your shadow?
