Have photos and examples of children’s work at hand as they talk about what they observed and discovered while mixing red and yellow. Write any new ideas and information on the “Mixing New Colors” chart. Ask them:
- Which of the oranges that you created was your favorite? What do you like about it?
- How much red and how much yellow did you mix to make your orange? How would you describe it?
Talk about the PEEP episode and coloring activity. Ask,
- What were some of the different colors you colored Peep, Chirp, and Quack?
- Can you describe how they looked in a different color?
Sometimes things that are not their usual color look strange to us. For example, if you saw a glass of green milk, would you drink it? Why or why not? If someone made you a sandwich with blue peanut butter, would you eat it? Why do you think the color changes how you think about these foods?
