Read and Discuss: I Get Wet

Review some of the things you’ve discovered about water.

Materials

  • I Get Wet by Vicki Cobb
  • “Our Ideas About Water” chart

Directions

Before you read: Show children the cover, and read the title and author’s name. Ask what they notice about the illustration. Tell them that this book will talk about some of the things they explored about water last week.

After you read: Flip through the pictures about:

  • the shape of water. Ask, Do these pictures of water in different containers remind you of some experiments we did last week? When we experimented with the shape of water? What did we find out?
  • water drops. Ask, Can you describe the shapes of the water drops coming out of the faucet in these pictures? When you experimented with water drops last week, what did you notice about the shape of the water drops?
  • wax paper and a paper towel. Ask, Do you remember what happened when we put water drops on wax paper and on a paper towel? Which one absorbed the drops of water? Which one didn't absorb the drops of water?

Review the “Our Ideas About Water” chart and add any new ideas about what we can do with water, what we use it for, and the different places we find it.
