Seed Museum

Collect, display, and label seeds.

Materials

  • assorted types of flower and vegetable seeds
  • beans, pea pods, sunflower, and grass seeds
  • plastic or paper bowls for displaying seeds or white ice cube trays
  • paper, crayons, and markers

Directions

To begin the week, put out three or four different kinds of seeds in labeled bowls or ice cube trays. If the seeds come from a packet, tape the empty packet to the bowl to identify it. You can also have children label the seeds by drawing pictures of the plants the seeds will grow into—a sunflower or grass, for example. Have children add new seeds to the Museum each time they do an activity using seeds. For instance, during Week 1 they would add beans, pea pods, sunflower, and grass seeds.
