Review today’s explorations and ideas about plants.

Gather around the Watch Them Grow center and read last Friday’s predictions about what children thought would happen to their plants over the weekend.  Encourage children to describe what has grown and what hasn’t.

Look at the carnations they put in vases with water and food coloring. Ask, What do you notice about the flowers? What do you think happened to make the flowers turn the color of the water? How did the color get to the flower? What happened to the carnation without water? Why do you think that happened?

Using photos from the plant walk, ask children to name the different kinds of plants and trees they saw. Have them compare the plants growing inside with the plants they saw growing outside. How are they the same? How are they different? Do they think trees are plants? Why?

Review the leaves from the scavenger hunt that children sorted.  How are the leaves different?  What do all of them have in common?
